About Me

My name is Gillian and I am a qualified Counsellor. I came to Counselling after a varied and experienced background during which I have spent time in various parts of the NHS, Finance, Retail and Travel.

Alongside my private practice I am currently working in the NHS offering Talking therapies which are designed to help anyone with common mental health problems.

However it was my empathetic nature which drew me to counselling and has enabled me to mix my theoretical knowledge with a deep understanding of the personal challenges you may be facing.

I feel very passionately that emotional well-being is the foundation for success in every aspect of our lives and that positive mental health can help us deal with the challenges that an ever changing modern life brings.

I am committed to my clients and as a person centred counsellor following a “humanistic and existential approach”, I approach each client as an individual with their own unique story. My aim is to accompany you in exploring your world and how you experience it – in fact I consider myself a fellow traveller and your supportive companion.

Exploring your situation through counselling can be challenging and painful but also powerful and life-enhancing. Sharing in a safe place can aid self-healing and can also lead to the changes you desire to make in your life – it often brings a fresh perspective and a sense of truly being heard.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and for you this means I ensure a strict ethical framework is present in all we do together.

Over the years I have experienced and gained insight into the benefits of many
complimentary therapies, because of my own positive outcomes I made the decision to train as an Auricular Acupuncturist. Auricular acupuncture or Ear acupuncture involves inserting tiny needles into specific points in the ear. Stimulating these points is thought to promote healing. Auricular acupuncture is especially useful to help relieve pain, calm the mind and relieve withdrawal symptoms amongst many others.

I look forward to speaking with you, meeting you, travelling with you on your journey and ultimately watching you reach your full potential in whatever form that takes.
